Birchbox Home Sweet Homespun Review + Coupon Code

Birchbox  announced a couple weeks ago their holiday Limited Edition boxes.  I love the Limited Edition boxes because they release all the contents so you know what you are getting.   Birchbox also shows which items are full size and which are travel size.  I knew I wanted the Vanity Affair box as a Christmas present, but this Home Sweet Homespun box looked great as a treat leading up to Christmas.

This box is $40 and promises a $96 value.  Use code MOBILE20 (to save 20%) and don’t forget to add a free mystery sample pack to your order ($10 value)

This box is BIG, I was very surprised by the size of it.  I actually moved the products from the Vanity Affair box to this box (and added some other items I’ve received from Birchbox) for my husband to wrap for Christmas.

Birchbox Home Sweet Homespun First Look

The first look was a nice, full box with little packing material.  Most of the box was filled with the items.  Since I knew what was included in the box, it wasn’t too surprising.

Meri Meri The Little Garden Treat Kit

Meri Meri The Little Garden Treat Kit

Meri Meri The Little Garden Treat Kit: $12.95

I’ve seen Meri Meri tags online and in a couple of stores before but have never bought them.  It includes 18 tags for labeling your treats.  I’m hoping to make cookies for a few gifts this year, and these tags will come in handy.  I like that they are not Christmas/holiday themed tags so if you are getting this as a Christmas gift you will be able to use the tags.

Askinosie Chocolate Sipping Chocolate

Askinosie Chocolate Sipping Chocolate

Askinosie Chocolate® Single Origin Sipping Chocolate: $16.50 full size/$3.69 sample value

This beverage is meant to be a thick, rich chocolate drink (you only mix it with 4 tbs. of milk).  Unfortunately, I found it too bitter for me (and I like dark chocolate).  But now I know without buying the full size container 🙂

Richer Poorer Socks

Richer Poorer Socks

Richer Poorer Socks: $12.00

I’ve seen people rave about these before but never knew why they were so special.  They are lightweight without being so thin that your feet are cold.  I love the fun patterns and they were really comfortable to wear in boots all day.

Illume Mini Tin Soy Candle

Illume Mini Tin Soy Candle

Illume Mini Tin Soy Candle: $9.00

I really like the smell of this candle (Noble Currant).  For the longest time I would only use the plug in fresheners because I was afraid of the girls bumping into something that I had a candle on.  Now that they are older, I am starting to burn candles again.  I am saving this for after Thanksgiving to make the house smell nice and Christmasy.

Milk Bar Cornflake-Chocolate-Chip-Marshmallow Cookie Mix

Milk Bar Cornflake-Chocolate-Chip-Marshmallow Cookie Mix

Milk Bar Cornflake-Chocolate-Chip-Marshmallow Cookie Mix: $16.00

This is why the box was so big.  The container for this cookie mix is pretty large.  We will be making these on Friday night when we decorate the Christmas tree.  You simply have to add butter and egg.  The cornflake chocolate chip marshmallow cookies will be new to all of us and should be fun to try.

MakersKit Hanging Photo Clips Complete Project Kit

MakersKit Hanging Photo Clips Complete Project Kit

MakersKit Hanging Photo Clips Complete Project Kit: $24.00

This is the item I’m most torn about.  It basically makes a hanging “clothesline” for your photos.  But, I feel that the price is really high for what you get and I wish the directions weren’t only available online.  I do plan to use this with Ella to hang up some pictures of the Christmas events we’ve already done and add to it as we get closer to Christmas.

Soak Handmaid Luxury Hand Crème

Soak Handmaid Luxury Hand Crème

Soak Handmaid Luxury Hand Crème: $10.00

This hand cream is from a company in Canada and contains shea butter, olive oil, and vitamins A and E to soften skin.  I like the scent and the bottle is a good size to keep at work.

Cowshed Lippy Cow Natural Lip Balm

Cowshed Lippy Cow Natural Lip Balm

Cowshed Lippy Cow Natural Lip Balm: $8.00 full size/$3.51 sample value

I love lip balms and lip gloss and have them stashed in every bag, jacket and drawer.  This will be added to my stash because I can never have enough – especially in the winter.

Final Thoughts: I loved this box.  I was introduced to some items that I’ve wanted to try (the Richer Poorer socks), and learned there are some items that I don’t want to purchase again (like the sipping chocolate).  The Vanity Affair is a better value and offers more beauty products if that’s what you are after, but this box offers more lifestyle items.

Did you get any of the  Birchbox Limited Edition boxes?  I’d love to hear what you think of them.
